Futuro Verde Conferences

In 2010 the Institute for Nature and Biodiversity Conservation (ICNB) jointly organised with BES a total of 5 free entry conferences. The conferences were held in the BES Art & Finança building and were attended by 431 participants. The purpose was to alert the public to the degradation of the ecosystems and the importance of a future in which biodiversity is preserved.

On 17th June 2010, the Opening Conference of the Futuro Verde Conferences was held at the BES Arte & Finança building, an initiative of the ICNB supported by BES, under the theme "Biodiversity, Ecosystems and their Value". 7th July – Biodiversity and Management of Protected Areas The Protected Areas – parks, reserves, natural monuments, protected landscapes… are important instruments both for the conservation of nature and biodiversity, and for land planning. Their management, always confronted with the dynamic character of human activities, raises a great variety of concerns, is the motive of reflection and a permanent incentive to search for new solutions. Gerard Collin – international expert, professor at Montpellier and former manager of Protected Areas, namely of Cevennes National Park (France). Carlo Bifulco – international specialist in nature conservation projects and former manager of Vesuvius National Park and Aspromonte National Park (Italy). Rodriguez Angel, director of the National Park Monfraque, one of the most popular parks in Spain, referenced by the works of nature conservation.

7th October - Biodiversity and Sustainable Hunting Management An age-old discussion marks the relations between the conservation of nature and biodiversity and hunting activity. However, it is undeniable that correct hunting management, conserving and fostering fauna resources, has obvious positive implications, both from ecological and economic points of view, which is more than sufficient reason, once again, to endeavour to ensure such a long-awaited compromise. 27th October – Biodiversity, Forests and Fire Management The problem of forest fires has accompanied us throughout history and the consequences are very visible on the landscape. From both ecological and socioeconomic perspectives, the undisputable incidence of forest fires, associated to an extreme publicising by the media has renewed, on an annual basis, old controversies around the different aspects that are hidden behind the term “forest fire”.
