Horse Driving - Banco Espírito Santo has been following and supporting the growth of Empresa das Águas do Vimeiro. Both the Portuguese Horse Driving Federation and the International Federation for Equestrian Sports regularly choose Vimeiro as the set for horse driving qualification rounds for European Championships, Olympic Games, World Equestrian Games and Portuguese Championships. Vimeiro has since 2008 held the Ambassador Classics label, which is awarded to the best competition in the international circuit of veteran drivers.
The figures attest to Vimeiro’s renown as the organiser of show jumping events: holding an average of 5 competitions per year, more than 500 horse drivers from 20 different countries come to Vimeiro, inscribing the significant number of 1,000 horses.
Clube Naval de Cascais – BES has been a traditional sponsor of the Clube Naval de Cascais, supporting a number of its initiatives:
- The Sailing School, since 2007. In that year the Club gained international recognition for the technical organisation of the ISAF Sailing World Championship, the largest qualification regatta for the Olympic sailing competition;
- "Dragon´s Gold Cup" in 2008;
- "Cascais Dragon Winter Series" in 2010. The Dragon is a 3-person keelboat designed in 1929 by Johan Anker. In 1948 the Dragon became an Olympic Class, a status it retained until the Munich Olympics in 1972.
